In 1973, the Victor comic, well-known to all boys of a certain age, published the story of the kidnap in their usual style. The British, brave and clever fighting against the odds. The Germans, cunning and morally bankrupt.
I have been able to obtain a copy of the Victor from October 6th 1973. Read and download the pdfs and enjoy! Page 1 and Page 2.
That was great! Thanks!
A very good find Tom! A rarity, indeed. This tale deserves a graphic novel by the likes of Alan Moore. The Kreipe kidnap has been recently referred to in Simon Reeves’s BBC two-part series ‘Greece with Simon Reeves’ (on iPlayer) when he visited the Cretan village of Anogia (http://www.explorecrete.com/history/WW2_Anogia_Destruction.html). Terrible retribution for the kidnapping and a long lasting unforgiveness.
