A bit late but as I said I had to take a break; I was all blogged out. The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for the blog. What it does not say is that we have passed the 500,000 mark for visits. Thank you for reading the blog, and to so many of you for being active by making comments, sending emails, and coming up with great ideas!
Here’s an excerpt:
About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 240,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 4 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!
I have really enjoyed this blog and all the fine details in contains for us keen Patrick Leigh Fermor followers.
Today in fact I finished reading the excellent Artemis Cooper biography on PLF and was impressed. In October 2004 I had that once in a life time chance of actually meeting up with him, in his home studio at Kardamyli and over a coffee to discuss travel and adventure. For a man of 89 years at the time he was fully of energy – I found him witty, sharp and genuinely interested in my own travels and aspirations. He told me interesting little details of his life’s adventure, it seemed as though we were old friends in a fluid conversation and equally comfortable with one another – perhaps in a previous life we had drunk at the same fountain!
Sorry, Tom, I just can’t seem to open the full report. I just get the front page with fireworks going off, random dates coming up, and nothing I seem to click on results in anything else. Do I need to have a special program loaded? Anyway, thanks for a most enjoyable year of the blog.
Judy – try clicking on the picture, let the fireworks go off, and leave the page to load for a few seconds. You should then just be able to scroll down. It works ok for me in Firefox and IE. Any problems get back to me.
Tom, it’s been a pleasure. A rest? You deserve it.
John
